“The need for imagination, a sense of truth, and a feeling of responsibility; these are the three forces which are the very nerve of education.”

— Rudolf Steiner

In the end the measure of a school lies in the graduates it produces. The Waldorf record seems pretty impressive. Consider students’ scores on the Scholastic Aptitude Tests. Despite Waldorf students’ unfamiliarity with standardized tests, their SAT scores have generally come in well above the national average.

About The Alliance for Waldorf Education

The Alliance for Waldorf Education (AWE), formerly known as Boulder Waldorf Foundation, was founded in 2001 to support the financial stability of the area's Waldorf schools and also to develop collaborative relationships among all the schools in the Front Range region, and to promote Waldorf education to the public.

We are inspired by Waldorf education and contributions of its founder, Rudolf Steiner. We believe Waldorf education cultivates the greatest potential in children and develops leadership for a world in need of new ways of thinking and being.

The Alliance for Waldorf Education board and Executive Director help fulfill our mission to:

  • To strengthen Waldorf schools and similar initiatives by supporting the growth of their organizational and financial capacity to meet the challenges of the 21st century
  • To carry out our services through regional collaboration, direct services, and project incubation
  • To foster leadership and innovative thinking as the basis for positive change in schools and communities

AWE’s guiding philosophy is to partner with regional schools to achieve practical objectives and build synergistic solutions to common issues.

We believe that when the regional schools work together, they will build a stronger network of Waldorf schools, enhance sharing about the precious gifts this education can offer to children, and strengthen school programs by sharing information and creative ideas.

We believe we can serve a unique function as a comprehensive resource and catalyst for change to:

  • Facilitate regional collaboration and creative thinking among schools to develop mutual support and shared opportunities
  • Promote Waldorf education to the public
  • Strengthen organizational effectiveness, and enrollment, marketing, and fundraising programs
  • Open avenues to explore pertinent school issues around money, communication, and volunteer leadership
